“Police officers injured in drunken driving and violent incident in Tarbes”

Saturday April 22 around 5:30 am, rue Solférino in Tarbes, the police observe a vehicle on the roof. The driver lost control and crashed into two parked cars. He got out of the vehicle alone and showed all the signs of drunkenness.

But during the medical visit to the hospital center to obtain authorization to place him in police custody, the 32-year-old young man begins to get angry and insult a policewoman by throwing a used handkerchief in her face.
He punches her in the left cheekbone which knocks her to the ground. His two colleagues try to control him, but he struggles in all directions and hits them. The three police officers are injured, with two of them having a double fracture of the finger and a sprained thumb, which require work stoppages.

While in police custody, he admitted that he had drunk heavily and that he had driven after a drunken evening with a colleague, and that his behavior could become aggressive when he had been drinking. He was presented to the magistrate on Sunday afternoon and was summoned to court in October 2023, for drunken driving, contempt, rebellion and violence against persons holding public authority.

Another driver ends up in an EDF meter

On the night of Saturday to Sunday, around one o’clock in the morning, another 25-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle trying to escape the police. Chased by the police from the Arsenal district to rue Massey, he hit an anti-parking barrier, before ending his race in an EDF meter.

At the end of his police custody, he was the subject of a summons for prior recognition of guilt, for December 2023.
