The police force of the city of Irvine, located in the southern part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, installed a new part in the service garages. It became an electric cybertruck from Tesla, which is a rather controversial model in itself, but in the police version it attracts even more attention.

However, the Californian police said that they certainly do not intend to engage in more serious activities with this car. It should be used primarily in school programs and educational events that focus on drug abuse. However, it should be able to be fully used during an emergency.

Considering the main reason, the aim was to make the new car attractive especially to children and young people. After all, that’s why Irvine police brought it in via gorgeous video. “The goal is always to have a special car that doesn’t look like a classic police car,” explained police spokesman Kyle Oldoerp, saying that in the forty years of the anti-drug program, no it was replaced by the current cybertruck, for example, a very fragile Chrysler PT Cruiser or various small monster trucks.

California police officers paid 150,000 dollars (about 3.5 million crowns) for a new car, which is not so much for such a car, when a standard Ford Interceptor in police design costs 116,000 dollars (about 2.7 million crowns).

In addition, the Irvine Police Department expects a longer lifespan for the cybertruck, which should last up to ten years, while regular police cars will be replaced after three to four years. Another saving is represented by the electric device, thanks to which the sector should save about six thousand dollars (140 thousand crowns) in five years compared to fossil fuel.

However, a question arises as to how it will be with reliability. The Cybetruck became famous at the first show by breaking a window while demonstrating its strength. In the first year of sales, several other problems appeared, such as a sticky accelerator pedal. However, Kyle Oldoerp said that the police are used to different recalls, and in addition, the Tesla service station is very close to the police garage.
