The level of physical fitness and general health of the students of the Police Academy, who presented themselves during the graduation ceremony on Monday morning, was impressive and reassuring.
Fortunately, I was present at this celebration and saw the various performances performed by these graduates, along with students from the rest of the Academy’s academic teams, directly from the booth where President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, senior statesmen and many senior professionals were present. of the media.
In this celebration there have been many scenes, but today I stop at a specific scene, which is the practice of sport and its impact on the health of individuals and, consequently, of the whole society.
The main feature is that the participants in the performances that accompanied the celebration were enjoying high physical fitness and excellent overall health, and this was illustrated through the various segments they performed from the beginning of cycling to the end of overcoming very difficult jumping obstacles through the shows of physical strength, self defense, karate and kung fu, kickboxing, shooting, climbing, securing public figures and parkour. What was most striking was the appearance of many of the top-tier graduates during combat performances, private security missions and filming, not to mention their high physical fitness.
The pinnacle of this performance was what one of the graduates did when he managed to jump over a tank and thirty young men lifting spears and standing in two opposite rows. This young man got everyone’s applause, led by President El-Sisi and the Minister of the Interior, Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq.
Interest in sport and public health is one of the most important characteristics of developed countries and provides clear guidance on disease prevention and decline in the future. And it no longer needs to be pampered or tried: exercise, even if it’s just a normal walk, can change a person’s life and save them from many diseases. And we remember that the celestial religions exhort it, including hadiths such as: “A strong believer is better than a weak believer and in all good”. us to teach our children about swimming, archery and horse riding: “Teach your children to swim, archery and horse riding”.
Let the police officer enjoy public health, and practice any kind of sport, which allows him to do his job better, and make him excel in any confrontation with outlaws, if only public health is invoked.
The question that occupies my mind is: why do some police officers not maintain this level during their tenure?
I know and understand that most other professions do not practice any kind of sport from scratch, and as they get older and sit at their desk, they gain weight and are exposed to multiple diseases, especially diabetes and heart disease, but it is assumed that the matter is completely different with police officers, where there is an absolute need to keep exercise as an important cornerstone in the practice of work, especially if in the field.
I remember President El-Sisi spoke more than once years ago about the need for everyone to exercise, and we have seen him riding a bicycle on more than one occasion, especially in Sharm El-Sheikh and Alexandria, and I also remember that he has called on senior officials not to get fat.
Some might see this as marginal and others might say: are all our problems over until we talked about the importance of exercise ?! The answer is simply that without playing sports and without enjoying the minimum level of public health, there is no real future for any person or nation and they will live sick and dependent on society.
I hope, of course, that all clubs, youth centers and public and private squares will be able to attract and attract all young people to sport, who do not suffer from serious illnesses and save time, effort and money, and will find themselves far away. from drugs of all kinds.
All the best wishes to recent graduates to be successful and fulfill their mission in law enforcement and in treating people with humanity, as President El-Sisi said.
