Jakarta –
Police officer named Brigadier Setyo Herlambang allegedly shot dead while cleaning his own firearm. Adjutant to the North Kalimantan Regional Police Chief (Kaltara) Inspector General Daniel Aditya Jaya died at his official residence, precisely in his room.
Head of Public Relations of the North Kalimantan Regional Police, Kombes Budi Rachmat, explained that the incident occurred on Friday (22/9/2023), at around 13.10 WITA. At that time, Brigadier Setyo Herlambang had just returned home on Friday.
“The victim was found covered in blood and next to him lying HS-9 type firearm with senpi number HS178837 Service Inventory,” explained Budi in his statement, Friday (22/9).
The results of the initial examination by the team of doctors showed that the victim had no pulse when he was found. The North Kalimantan Regional Police Ditreskrimum Team and North Kalimantan Regional Police Bidpropam intervened to investigate this incident.
“The team from Ditreskrimum and Bidpropam Polda Kaltara has carried out the crime scene investigation,” he said.
Clean the Senpi
Budi revealed that that afternoon Setyo had just returned from performing Friday prayers. He then went into his room and cleaned his firearm.
“He came home every Friday to clean his firearm,” said Budi.
From the crime scene results, there was no one else in the room when the victim was found lying dead in a pool of blood.
“It is suspected that while the results of the crime scene were processed, the person concerned was there alone,” he added.
Body autopsied
Setyo Herlambang’s body was taken to Tarakan Hospital this evening. The police will autopsy the victim’s body.
“The body of the HS victim was taken to Tarakan Hospital for an autopsy on the cause of the HS victim’s death,” he added.
Brigpol Setyo Herlambang is a member of Banit 3 Subden 1 Den Gegana Satbrimob Polda Kaltara. Setyo was seconded as Adjutant to the North Kalimantan Regional Police Chief.
