(fg) After two people died on Monday afternoon at the Langen-Bergheim service area on Autobahn 45 in the direction of Gießen, the Hanau public prosecutor and the investigators from the criminal police have now made initial findings about the identity of the two deceased and the possible cause of the incident be able.
The person who died in a Mercedes with an Offenbach license plate after colliding with one of the petrol pumps in the car is likely to be the 61-year-old owner from the Offenbach district. Investigations at the residential address revealed that the man apparently wanted to take his own life. An expert was commissioned to reconstruct the exact course of events.
Another person found lifeless outside the partially burned-out passenger cars is believed to be a 47-year-old truck driver from Kyrgyzstan who was apparently killed by debris.
Autopsies will be carried out on both people on Tuesday morning, which should now provide further information about the identity of the people and the circumstances of their death.
