(lei) Once again, the fire brigade, rescue service and police had to respond to a fire in a school toilet, as a result of which not only two people were slightly injured, but also repeated considerable damage to property. In the case, a comprehensive school in the street “Am grapes” was affected, to which the emergency services were alerted on Tuesday morning at around 8:50 a.m.

When the helpers arrived on site, heavy smoke could already be seen coming from the main building. Shortly thereafter, the fire brigade was able to localize the fire in a toilet on the first floor of the main building and quickly extinguish it. Meanwhile, all students at the facility had to temporarily leave the premises and go outside, but were able to return to the classrooms after the building was ventilated.

Two school employees aged 39 and 40 were slightly injured as a result of the fire and received medical treatment on site with suspected smoke gas intoxication. The flames and soot formation caused considerable material damage to furnishings and sanitary objects in the toilet room and also adjacent classrooms . The exact amount of property damage has not yet been determined, but according to preliminary estimates by the police, this could amount to up to 50,000 euros. The area affected by the fire cannot be used until further notice.

According to initial findings, a towel dispenser was the starting point of the fire. However, the cause of the fire is still unclear to date. The criminal police in Offenbach have already started investigations on suspicion of intentional arson and are investigating the scene of the fire during the course of the day.
