Police: man (26) in prison for threatening CDA member Omtzigt | Inland

During a demonstration at the House of Representatives against the corona policy, Omtzigt was bothered and received death threats as he walked by. Subsequently, President of the House of Representatives Khadija Arib reported the matter to the police. Prime Minister Rutte also condemned the behavior. “What happened to Omtzigt, that is unacceptable,” said Rutte.

During the demonstration on Thursday, August 20, a large group of people turned against the police. An officer was injured during the demonstration and several arrests were made.

Sedition

A few of the protesters are still detained, including a 42-year-old man from The Hague. He was sentenced to two months in prison on Wednesday, one month of which is suspended, for violence against the police and incitement. The police judge also imposed community service orders on men from Etten-Leur and Sint-Willebrord.
