Hialeah County authorities are asking for the community’s help in locating a driver who caused the death of a person last week and fled the crime scene.
According to the media Local 10 Newsthe driver would have run over the victim during the early hours of last Saturday, September 16, around 5:30 am
Authorities said the fatal impact occurred east of the intersection of North River Drive and Northwest 36th Street, near Miami International Airport.
Officers were able to obtain security recordings that show a sedan-type vehicle suspected of having hit a 33-year-old woman who was crossing the street.
The recording captured the exact moment in which this car appeared on an exit ramp of the Airport Expressway towards Northwest 36th Street, shortly before hitting the woman.
The Miami-Dade Police Department indicated that the driver responsible stopped at the scene for a few seconds, turning on his emergency lights. However, less than a minute later, he decided to flee towards Northwest 36th Street, heading towards Miami.
The person did not try to help the victim, nor did he call emergency services to report what happened, so it is likely that a driver who passed by later contacted 911 after noticing the victim’s body.
