OOSTERWOLDE – The police carried out a traffic stop on Wednesday at various locations in Nijeholtpade, Oosterwolde and Appelscha. Team Traffic helped with this check. More than 40 fines were issued, including 13 for not using hands-free calling and 10 for not wearing a seat belt.
The audit focused, among other things, on technical aspects. The police used equipment such as a light transmittance meter, weighing plates, sound meter and laser guns. Transport permits were also checked and the Fisheries Act was enforced, with someone caught fishing with prohibited bait.
Several violations were noted, including not using hands-free telephones, not wearing a seat belt, driving with slippery tires and exceeding the permitted speed. There were also violations in the areas of technical defects, visibility of license plates and unnecessary noise.
In addition, fines were issued for not following the mandatory driving direction, car windows that were too dark and loads on trailers.
