Police Invite Ferdinand Hutahaean If You Want To Go To Pretrial

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has detained Ferdinand Hutahaean in the case of the tweet ‘Your God is weak’ for the next 20 days at the detention center at the Police Headquarters, South Jakarta after being named a suspect. The National Police invited Ferdinand Hutahaean if he wanted to file a pretrial.

“That’s the right of the suspect and his legal counsel, please. Indeed, please take the path to be taken,” said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan at a press conference at the National Police Headquarters, Monday (10/1/2022).

Ramadhan said that at first, Ferdinand Hutahaean was willing to be questioned as a witness. However, when he wanted to be questioned as a suspect, Ferdinand refused.

“But at the time of examination, the witness concerned was willing. So when he was declared a suspect, then the investigation continued as a suspect,” he said.

“After being declared a suspect, then further investigation as a suspect, the person concerned refused because of health,” continued Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand Hutahaean’s lawyer, Zakir Rasyidin, admitted that he had not yet thought about filing a pretrial. According to him, the process carried out by the Bareskrim Polri so far has been very good.

“There hasn’t been a (pretrial). We haven’t thought about it yet. Because we see the process is very good, yes. So we see from the administrative side, I think it’s clear what we need to worry about,” said Zakir.

Previously, the police named Ferdinand Hutahaean as a suspect for the tweet ‘Your God is weak’. For the tweet, Ferdinand was charged with making trouble in the community.

Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said that Ferdinand Hutahaean was not charged with blasphemy.

“Meanwhile not. So the article is 14 paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of the criminal law regulation, Law 1 of 1946,” said Brigadier General Ramadhan to reporters, Monday (10/1).

In this case, the police confiscated a number of evidences such as screenshots of up to 2 DVDs. Ramadhan said the contents in the confiscated DVD were evidence of Ferdinand Hutahaean’s post.

“(Content of the DVD) Posts of hate speech that have the potential to cause trouble,” he said.
