Police investigating possible link between poisoning of dogs and killing of fox

In the past two months, a dead fox was found in Bavel and Ulvenhout and two dogs with poisoning symptoms were taken to a vet. The police suspect that these reports are related. She warns dog owners to keep an extra eye on their animals.

The one dog that had become ill had eaten something in the woods of Ulvenhout. The other dog had bitten a tennis ball at the Lange Bunder in Bavel that contained unknown white stuff. The ball was on a playground, opposite animal pasture De Bunderij. According to the owner of the animal, the ball was full of white flaky powder. The dog is doing well now.

According to this animal lover, dogs that were let out near the JEKA sports park on the Beukenlaan in Breda were also poisoned.

The dead fox was found in the woods of Ulvenhout. Sponges were also found here that may contain unhealthy stuff. The police are investigating the connection between the three reports.

The sponges and the fox are being scrutinized by Staatsbosbeheer. It is unknown how long this will take.

The police advise dog owners in Bavel and Ulvenhout to pay extra attention to their animals, to keep them on a leash and not to pick up unknown objects. Everyone is also asked to report suspicious situations to the police.
