Police Investigate Unauthorized License Plate Changes at Røyken Train Station

THE SMOKE: A somewhat special situation has arisen for several people who have parked their car at Røyken station.

On Friday evening, the police report that they have received several reports of cars with incorrect license plates at Røyken train station.

– We ask those who have parked there in the last couple of weeks to check that they have the correct number plate on their car both front and back, the Oslo police write on Twitter.

According to operations manager Eirik Sandnes at the Oslo police, reports of changed license plates have been coming in since mid-March.

– We have probably not fully seen the connection between the inquiries until now, he says to Drammens Tidende.

– A lot to sort out

He says that so far no license plates have been stolen. The person who committed the crime has therefore simply changed the number plates on the cars.

– These are bad pranks, which have some unfortunate consequences. There are already car owners who have started getting parking fines and toll bills on cars with their plates. Then there will be a lot to sort out, says the operations manager.

More reviews

Now the police are asking everyone who has been in the car park since mid-March to check the plates on the car both front and back. If they discover that they have incorrect plates on the car, they must contact the police.

– We already have several reviews, says Sandnes.

After the connection between the messages became clear to the police, a case was opened which is being investigated. However, this does not happen until after Easter.

– We have not been to the site yet. Now we initially go outside so that people can move around and check their cars. Then we can take the rest later, he says.
