The Jember Resort Police is investigating the issue of the alleged hospital taking organs corpse Covid-19 in East Java. The issue has triggered a struggle over the body by the family who suspect that the eyeballs of their relatives have been pryed out hospital.
This incident occurred in Pace Village, Silo District, on Saturday (24/7) night. Residents forcibly took the bodies of Covid-19 patients after they damaged an ambulance carrying the bodies of their relatives.
Jember Police Chief AKBP Arif Rachman said the issue of the hospital stealing the organs of the Covid-19 corpse had triggered a skewed perception of the public.
“We will investigate the spread of hoax information. It is still under investigation,” said Arif, Monday (26/7).
The police ensure that the body’s organs are complete, as has been investigated by the Silo Police.
The incident began when the body of the man who was originally treated at a hospital in East Java died with blood in his eyes. But after being checked, it turned out that his eyeballs and all parts of his body were complete.
Luckily the police immediately dispersed the action at that time. However, the police are still investigating the case.
The incident of vandalizing an ambulance was caught by an amateur video that went viral on social media. Video footage shows villagers destroying an ambulance by breaking glass.
Meanwhile, the bodies in the ambulances were taken forcibly and then carried out without using health protocols. The Task Force officers dressed in PPE looked helpless at the residents’ actions.
A similar incident was previously reported to have occurred in Jatian Village, Pakusari District, on Sunday (17/7) night. In this incident, officers when carrying the bodies of Covid-19 patients were treated roughly by a number of residents. However, as mediation by the government, residents and Covid-19 officers ended peacefully.
