A private person found the deceased in a boat, and contacted the police at 6.20pm on Friday evening.
– Preliminary investigations do not indicate that these are exposed to external damage, and we do not rule out that it could be an accident. But we are investigating broadly now to clarify whether it is a question of a suspicious death or something else, says operations manager Gisle Sveen to NRK.
The police are now carrying out investigations at a wharf in Halden to uncover the cause of the incident.
– It was a private person who found them in the boat and reported them to us. The police patrol was there after a short time, says Sveen.
A representative from the emergency room was also on the scene after a short time.
Works with identification
The police do not want to say anything about the age of the dead. They are still working on identification, and have not started notifying next of kin.
– What we know now is that two people have been found dead in a boat moored in Halden. There is a man and a woman. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of their death, says Sveen.
He says the police are working extensively to clarify what is the cause.
– Then we take into account the possibility that there may be a suspicious death, and work from that point of view as well
