MAKASSAR, KOMPAS.com – The South Sulawesi Regional Police will investigate the motive of the ambulance driver who went viral without being escorted until it was blocked by traffic jams which resulted in the death of an emergency patient on the way to Daya Hospital, Makassar.
“Still investigating, we will call the ambulance driver to find out the motive for making this video viral. This is still being investigated both from the Crime and Intelligence. Later, the Regional Police will carry out the investigation,” said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes Police Komang Suartana, when confirmed, Wednesday (19/1/2022).
Komang said, this examination aims to determine whether the ambulance driver was blocked by traffic jams or if there was another motive.
“Whether the person concerned feels hindered or maybe there is something else he doesn’t like, we will look into that again,” he said.

Komang said that the ambulance driver would be recalled in the near future.
“Plan will be called. Later, when there is information, we will inform you of the motive for making the video viral,” he said.
If you look at the viral video, Komang said, the ambulance looks unobstructed by other vehicles and the road situation is not too congested.
In fact, people who heard the sound of the ambulance siren then pulled over and opened the way.
“If we look at it wisely, it is clear that the community provides facilities for ambulances and does not block the road. We’ll see, people understand about emergency and gave way to the ambulance and pulled over to the side of the road. We also see that there are no traffic jams,” he explained.
Previously, it was reported that a video circulating of an ambulance driver who was stuck in traffic complained that there was no escort when he took an emergency patient to the hospital.
The ambulance driver said he felt overwhelmed because there was no reinforcements from the road clearing team.
Unable to break through the traffic jam, the patient in the ambulance died before arriving at the Makassar Daya Hospital.
“We are not paved and there is no team escorting. My patient died in the car. Due to the absence of the escort team, my patient died in the car. Police, how is this,” said the driver in the video.
