NEW YORK – Long Island Police disrupted a massive party, with up to 300 people, after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls about the event over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
The Uniformed responded to the Somers Court home in Farmingdale after receiving a large number of complaints about a large party around 8:40 pm on Saturday.
The home’s resident, Kim Catalanotto, 47, was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance and violating local social reception laws. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney. His arraignment date is pending.
Separately, a 62-year-old man, who lives in Somers Court, was hit in the face by someone as the revelers dispersed. He was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. Local police officers say they are investigating the assault.
The party disruption comes as Governor Andrew Cuomo cracks down on gathering sizes in certain areas of the state. While Suffolk County is not one of those, you still have to abide by the rules that remain in effect throughout the state where social events for hundreds of people are not allowed anywhere in New York at this time.
Suffolk County is one of the hardest hit COVID-19 counties in the state. As of Monday, it had more than 49,000 confirmed cases and more than 2,000 deaths.
