John McNesby, the president of FOP Lodge #5, expressed concern over incidents like these, stating that the city is becoming accustomed to such events. He highlighted the challenge faced by the short-staffed police department and called for an increase in the number of officers to handle such situations.
Police are currently searching for the driver of the vehicle that hit the officer. Last month, Philadelphia City Council approved legislation to crack down on illegal street racing and car meet-ups.
