Climate protesters have again been arrested in The Hague in actions of Extinction Rebellion. Among the detainees were two journalists. The Hague police also arrested a journalist on Monday. He was stuck on the desk for hours.
The police immediately said they do not intend to detain the two journalists. “As soon as we can confirm their status as journalists, they will be sent immediately.” That has now happened, a police spokesperson told the NOS.
One of the journalists arrested is former AD editor-in-chief Hans Nijenhuis. He drove as a reporter in a car with activists.
Dangerous situations
It was suspected that the protesters were planning to block the Utrechtsebaan. The Utrechtsebaan is one of the main access roads to the center of The Hague.
The police stopped several vehicles with 25 people in them. “Because this could lead to dangerous situations, they have been arrested for preparatory acts,” the police wrote on Twitter.
