Police in France have searched houses and vehicles on a large scale in the case surrounding the disappearance of toddler Émile, French media report.
The 2.5-year-old boy went missing at the beginning of July near the hamlet of Le Haut Vernet in the Alps. He was last seen in an alley near his grandparents’ house in the early evening.

Since this morning, the police have been investigating more than ten locations in Le Haut Vernet and the surrounding area. The searches are said to be a result of an investigation into telephone signals observed in the area on the evening of Émile’s disappearance. This concerns a total of approximately 1600 telephones.
The search would take place in places in mountainous areas, but also in houses and vehicles. Searches in the hamlet itself, just a few meters from Émile’s family home, are “checks on persons subject to the investigation,” a source close to the investigation told Le Parisien newspaper. According to the source, these people are not yet seen as suspects, but a suspect may be identified through the searches.
In mid-October, police also investigated a farm in the Le Vernet area of a young farmer “known for his risky behavior” and who was present in the hamlet when the toddler disappeared. That research did not yield a breakthrough.
