The woman continued on her way across the Ringpark to Valentin-Becker-Strasse. When she arrived at her home address at around 4:40 a.m., the man physically attacked her in the hallway.

An immediately initiated search was unsuccessful. The further investigations in the case were subsequently taken over by the Würzburg criminal police. After the police called for witnesses, a witness came forward who had apparently become aware of the fleeing perpetrator. Her tip led to further evidence and the identification of an urgent suspect.
