Police hunt for a car in the wrong direction on the motorway:

The messages began to flow into the police operations center in the South-East just before 10 pm on Monday night, when a car sped off in the wrong direction on the E18.

The car drove south northbound lane on the highway at Larvik.

Vegtrafikksentralen closed the barriers in the Larvik tunnel, to stop the motorist.

Then the car turned and drove on in the right direction on the E 18.

– We have received a lot of messages on the car. It is obvious that many have been frightened by this driving, says operations manager Marits Knudsen to TV 2.

The police had many patrols in turn to stop the motorist.

– We do what we can to stop and control the car, the police say.

At 22 o’clock, the police managed to stop the car.

The driver, a woman in her 70s, is reported and the driver’s license is confiscated.

– She has explained that she thought there were lanes in both directions where she was driving, the police say.
