The police this week held a reconstruction of the arrest of Michael P., the man who kidnapped, raped and killed Anne Faber (25). The Central Netherlands District Court confirms the reporting on this RTL News.
Michael P. (31) is currently serving a prison sentence of 27 years and eight months, and has also been sentenced to compulsory hospitalization. Last year, the Supreme Court shortened the sentence imposed by the court by four months because of the violence used during his arrest in 2017. During the arrest, P. suffered a broken shoulder.
P. thinks he has been dealt with too harshly and wants five members of the arrest team to be prosecuted. That is why he started a so-called Article 12 procedure in 2019. The Amsterdam Court of Appeal then ordered more research into the cause of the shoulder fracture. The court also wants to know what instructions the arrest team received.
‘Cried out in pain’
P. describes in his report to the police officers that his handcuffed arms were pushed up behind his back several times, whereby he would have cried out in pain. At the time, the investigation team took into account that Anne Faber could still be alive and wanted to force P. to tell where the missing woman was.
According to RTL Nieuws, the reconstruction took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, under the direction of an examining magistrate. In such a reconstruction, an event is ‘acted out’ to gain more clarity about how something happened. It is unclear whether the five arrest team members involved all cooperated. Michael P. was present according to RTL himself.
