The Rezekne unit of the Latgale Region of the State Police (VP) has detained two suspects for the theft of a vehicle, one of whom was released from prison at the end of August, Lāsma Kursīte, a senior specialist of the Latgale Region of the VP, informed.
She said that on September 16, the Criminal Police officers of the Rezekne District of the VP Latgale Region received information that a vehicle had been stolen in Rēzekne on the night of September 16 – a person’s car “Audi Avant”.
During a set of operational and investigative measures, the stolen vehicle was spotted on the same day in a raid on ROADPOL Security Days. On the spot, suspects – men born in 1996 and 1997 – were identified and detained on suspicion of committing a criminal offense. Both have been previously convicted and one of them was released from prison in August this year.
Police are currently explaining the connection between men and other crimes. On September 18 of this year, the Rezekne court applied a security measure to one of the suspects – arrest.
Individuals face criminal liability in connection with these events.
