The police handed out 112,975 corona fines in a year. Nearly two-thirds of these fines were issued for ignoring curfews, according to Tuesday annual figures.
Other fines were imposed for, among other things, group formation and not wearing a mouth mask in public transport and public spaces.
The figures show that a total of more than 40,000 warnings were issued. Most of the fines were handed out in the major cities in the past year. The police also issued the most warnings there.
“This is obvious, because in large cities more people live close together than in the countryside,” said the police. “That is also why there are more police on the streets in cities.”
In Amsterdam, this involves more than ten thousand fines. Rotterdam is slightly below that with 9,180. In the municipality of Delfzijl, only one fine was issued in a year.
