Police found psychiatric treatment letters on the body of a suicide victim at a Surabaya Hotel

Police found a letter for psychiatric treatment from Menur Mental Hospital (RSJ) while investigating a suicide victim who jumped from the 21st floor of a hotel in downtown Surabaya, Sunday evening (13 /10/2024).

Inspector Vian Wijaya, Head of the Genteng Police Crime Investigation Unit, suspected that the victim had a history of mental illness based on the discovery of the medical treatment letter.

“The victim is suspected to have a history of mental illness, as evidenced by the medical treatment letter from RSJ Menur Surabaya,” Vian told suarasurabaya.netSunday night.

The police also revealed the identity of the victim, with his initials H, a 55-year-old man from West Jakarta.

For the history of the incident, Vian said that the victim came to the hotel and went to the 21st floor, to be precise bar and loungearound 16.18 WIB. The victim then ordered a drink.

At about 16.57 WIB, it was reported that the victim climbed on the glass barrier of the balcony on the 21st floor, Bambang, one of the eye witnesses, knew where the victim was at that time.

“The witness then tried to persuade him, but the victim did not want to go back inside,” he said.

A few minutes later, after the witness continued to try to persuade him, the victim said goodbye and immediately jumped, and then fell on the roof of the hotel lobby.

“The victim said goodbye to the witness before jumping from the 21st floor balcony. The victim fell on the roof of the hotel lobby and died,” explained Vian.

After the incident, the witness immediately called the command center. “The witness called the 112 Command Center immediately and prepared a mattress to reduce the impact of the victim’s fall,” he said.
