Lahore: Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies have foiled a terror attack plan targeting key institutions in Punjab province. Police have arrested 13 terrorists belonging to the banned Islamic State (ISIS) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who attempted the terror attack. The information was released by the Counter Terrorism Department of the Punjab Police.
83 intelligence officers conducted operations in collaboration with the police in various districts of the province. The operation was meant to take immediate action in case of any untoward incident related to terrorism. Effectively, the team nabbed 13 terrorists with arms, explosives and other contraband. CTD informed that the arrested terrorists belonged to terrorist organizations ISIS (Daesh), TTP, Tehreek Jafaria Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
The anti-terrorist police said that the suspects were arrested during an investigation conducted on the basis of intelligence in the districts of Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalnagar, Lahore, Jehlum, Sheikhupura and Bahawalpur in Punjab. Police recovered 5 kg of explosives, an IED bomb, 29 detonators, 49 feet of protective fuse wire, prima cards, a pistol, an SMG rifle with 80 bullets and banned literature from the possession of the terrorists.
