The mother did not hesitate for a moment when her ‘daughter in distress’ asked for money by telephone message from an unknown number. After transferring an amount, the victim was in doubt.
She called her daughter’s original number. As it turned out, she knew nothing about it.

Shortly after the conversation, the scammers asked for more money. Mother and daughter called the police.
Police officers saw their chance to ‘lure the brutal scammers into a trap’, the Hengelo police reported in a Facebook message. “We literally lured the scammers out of their den of robbers and agreed on a place to physically transfer the money,” it reads.
At about 11 p.m. Monday evening, the scammers arrived at the agreed spot, unaware that they were being met by a group of agents. “Before they knew it, we came from all over to grab them!” the police said.
After a short chase, a police officer approached the scammers on a bicycle and one of them jumped ‘in his neck’. The pair went down.
The suspects were arrested and transferred to the detention complex.
