Police fired shots after Ridderkerk home robbery, 4 people arrested

The police arrested four suspects of a home robbery in Tholen in Zeeland after a chase. Several officers fired warning shots. No one was injured. A police spokesperson could not say why those shots were needed.

According to the spokesman, the four men broke into a house on Gouwestraat in Ridderkerk around 9.30 pm, where three people were present at the time. They were threatened with a firearm and had to give up their car keys, among other things. The residents were not injured in the robbery.

The suspects then fled with the stolen car over the A29 and A4 highways, quickly followed by the alerted police. The car was jammed in Tholen around 23.30, after which one suspect could be arrested immediately.

The other men were arrested after a search. One officer was injured in the knee during the arrests, but a visit to the hospital was not necessary.
