Police find kidnapped dog from Katwijk back in Germany

The police have found border collie Max (1), who disappeared without a trace a few weeks ago from the beach in Katwijk, in Germany. The dog is in good health and has been reunited with its owners.

It is still unclear who took Max and why he or she did it. “The German police now have the matter in their hands. The motives are also being investigated there,” said a spokesperson for the Dutch police. The investigation is still ongoing. According to Broadcasting West It is unknown if anyone has been arrested.

Max was taken by an unknown person on Sunday evening 22 July. His owners immediately started a flyer campaign in Katwijk and on Facebook. As a result, witnesses came forward who turned out to have more information about the vehicle with which Max was taken.

He couldn’t wait anymore

The local police officer launched an investigation and was in contact with Interpol several times. This led to the German police ringing the doorbell yesterday at an address in Germany, where Max turned out to be inside.

“The German colleagues immediately took Max to the vet and had the chip read”, the police officer writes Facebook. “At the same time, Max’s owners were already on their way to Germany. When Max had finished at the vet, his owners were waiting outside. He couldn’t wait anymore and ran to them as fast as he could!”
