Police find ‘a whole arsenal’ in house searches

During searches in 12 places in South Holland, Brabant and Zeeland, the police found “a whole arsenal” of weapons. Five suspects have been arrested.

The raids on residential and commercial buildings were in Rotterdam, The Hague, Dordrecht, Papendrecht, Bergen op Zoom, Halsteren and Yerseke. Automatic firearms, electroshock weapons, rifles and revolvers were seized, as well as ammunition and various 3D printers that can be used to print firearms parts.

The searches took place on Tuesday, police said. The raids were part of an investigation into the firearms trade. Three of the five suspects are still in custody, a 37-year-old man from Yerseke and a 40-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman from The Hague. They were brought before the examining magistrate on Friday and will remain in jail for two weeks.

Two others were allowed to go home but remain a suspect in the case, a 31-year-old man from Papendrecht and a 59-year-old man from Yerseke. Police do not rule out more arrests.
