Police find 1700 kilos of dangerous fireworks in Holten Inland

Last week, the police in Drenthe arrested men who had professional fireworks in their possession. Those arrests led to the man in Holten, who was arrested on Thursday, the police reported on Monday.

Trade in and possession of professional fireworks is prohibited for private individuals, because these fireworks are far too heavy and too dangerous for use by consumers. The force of the explosion can be so great that injuries or deaths can occur. A specialized company has removed the professional fireworks from Holten, the police say.

Fireworks were also found in the storage that may no longer be sold in the Netherlands. In addition, a false sticker had been placed on fireworks, which made the firecrackers seem less heavy than they actually were. Fireworks of categories F3 and F4 may only be set off by people who have completed special fireworks training.
