People have thrown fireworks at police and set fire to cars in Cardiff, Wales overnight on Tuesday.
The local police say they are working with widespread unrest after a serious traffic accident in Cardiff, write Sky News. The Guardian also reports the event.
Cardiff is the largest city in Wales in the United Kingdom.
The traffic accident which led to the police being called must have happened around 6pm, and the unrest escalated throughout the evening.
Pictures from the scene show riot police blocking one side of a road. A police car can be seen with a broken window, and on videos livestreamed on YouTube, young people can be seen throwing fireworks at the police.
According to Telegraphwhich refers to what is happening as riots, several firebombs have also been thrown at the police.
Shortly after 02:00 on Tuesday Norwegian time, the police write that they are present with large resources, and that they are arresting several people at the scene.
In a message on Twitter They are asking people to avoid the road, which is in the Ely area:
– We ask everyone who is involved or who is watching to leave immediately. We understand that local residents are concerned and we ask that you stay inside.
It is currently unclear what led to the chaotic scenes on Tuesday night.
Sky News have spoken to a resident in the area, who says that people here are not particularly happy with the police.
– Although we have also been affected by these riots, I understand. When people have had enough, this is what happens, says the man, whom the channel calls Connor.
