A member of the Delitua Police, Bripka Panca Simanjuntak who carried out the extortion against the rider motor with a long-tail traffic violation mode. Medan Polrestabes named Bripka Panca Simanjuntak as a suspect.
“From the results of a joint case from the Satreskrim and Propam Polrestabes Medan, what was done by the member with the initials PK has fulfilled the criminal element,” said Deputy Chief of Medan Polrestabes, AKBP Irsan Sinuhaji, Saturday (11/13).
Irsan said that Bripka Panca Simanjuntak had also been detained. Bripka Panca Simanjuntak admitted that he had only done extortion once. However, they will do an in-depth investigation.
“We have taken steps, that the action we took was to secure the personnel. Furthermore, from the facts on the ground and examination of the victim, that it was true that the act was alleged to be extortion. We are currently examining witnesses, ” he explained.
According to Irsan, Bripka Panca Simanjuntak was charged with Article 368 Jo 53 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 9 years in prison.
“So we will proceed with the criminal proceedings. It can be seen that we apply Article 368 Jo 53 of the Criminal Code to the personnel with a threat of 9 years in prison,” he said.
Irsan emphasized that the Medan Polrestabes would not tolerate various violations committed by members of the National Police. He appealed to the personnel not to do the same thing.
“We explained that the Medan Polrestabes will not tolerate the actions of personnel who are not good like this. We are firm and will process it, we will punish it. We are not playing games, we urge all other personnel to do well,” he explained.
In addition, Irsan appealed to the public to immediately report if there were members of the Police who committed violations.
“So please also inform us if there are police personnel who are not good, immediately report and will be processed. This is a form of our responsibility to the state and as a form of responsibility to the community,” he explained.
Previously, a man in a police uniform was beaten by a passerby on Jalan dr Mansyur, Medan Sunggal sub-district, Thursday (11/11) afternoon. The incident began when a woman riding a motorcycle was grabbed by the police.
The police officer then asked for a woman’s STNK and driver’s license. A number of residents in the vicinity of the incident had also heard the person asking the woman for Rp. 200 thousand. People came right away.
Then the residents asked the person to show the National Police KTA (membership card). However, the police officer was scared and tried to run away on his motorbike. Residents who saw it made furious and immediately arrested him while shouting ‘fake police’.
The person was then swarmed by a mob which jammed the Dr. Mansyur Medan road. The angry residents then dragged the man to the security guard post. It was later discovered that the man was a member of the Delitua Police Station who served at the SPKT.
