Police ends demonstration at azc in Echt | Inland

This prompted an action group from Amsterdam to travel to Echt and demonstrate there against the living conditions in the Dutch asylum seekers’ centers.

Emergency order

According to a police spokesperson, about 20 demonstrators gathered at the azc around 3 p.m. Mayor Jos Hessels then issued an emergency order. This happened because, according to Hessels, the protesters had spread inflammatory texts via social media and were provocative against the police. Moreover, according to Hessels, they did not adhere to the corona rules.

According to Hessels, the demonstration drew a lot of attention from residents of the asylum seekers’ center. Several police and military police patrols intervened and brought the protesters back to the station, where they had gotten off more than an hour earlier. There they had to board the train just after 4 p.m.

A police helicopter also participated in the action of the enforcers. According to Hessels, the demonstrators came from the Amsterdam region. According to the mayor, this is a group that repeatedly demonstrates to improve the living conditions in the asylum seekers’ centers.
