Turkey’s most famous pop star Tarkan was detained along with his colleagues in Istanbul, AP reported, citing the Turkish state intelligence agency.
Tarkan and the other performers were arrested in a police anti-drug operation early this morning. Detainees are being questioned, no charges have been filed.
Tarkan has sold millions of copies of his albums in Turkey and Europe, where he broke through in the 1990s. In 1998, his song “Simarik” even topped the music charts in France.
