Police Detain Inspector General Napoleon and Tommy Sumardi Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Criminal Investigation Unit Police hold back Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and Tommy Sumardi since Wednesday (14/10/2020).

Both are suspects in a case of alleged corruption related to the removal red notice at Interpol on behalf of Joko Soegiarto Tjandra alias Djoko Tjandra.

Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police’s Public Relations Division, Brigadier General (Pol) Awi Setiyono, said the two suspects were summoned today because investigators would immediately transfer phase II of the case.

“Ahead of the implementation of phase II, investigators for Corruption Eradication of Criminal Investigation and Police today summoned two suspects on behalf of NB and TS,” said Awi at the Bareskrim Building, South Jakarta, Wednesday.

The second stage of delegation is when investigators hand over the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor (JPU).

This was done after the case file was declared complete or P21 by the prosecutor’s office.

Awi said that Napoleon arrived at 11.00 WIB. One hour later, it was Tommy’s turn to answer the investigators’ summons.

Before being detained, the two underwent test swab related to Covid-19.

“The suspect NB was immediately carried out test swab and subsequently carried out by force of detention. Then, TS at 12.00 WIB was the same, “he said.

Both were named as suspects by Bareskrim on August 14, 2020. However, they were not immediately arrested.

Awi said the decision not to detain the two suspects beforehand was because investigators did not want to be tied to the suspect’s detention period.

“Because the corruption investigation at Bareskrim is different from that carried out by the KPK, so we don’t want to be shackled by us detaining people who know the case is long or it could take a long time for the P21,” said Awi.

Djoko Tjandra and Tommy Sumardi have the status of suspects and are suspected of giving bribes.

Meanwhile, Inspector General Napoleon and former Head of the PPNS Coordination and Supervision Bureau of the National Police, Brigadier General (Pol) Prasetijo Utomo, are suspected of accepting bribes.

The suspect, Djoko Tjandra, is also a convicted person in the case of transfer of the Bank Bali collection rights (cessie).

He is also currently undergoing trial for the fake pass that caught him.

Prasetijo is also a suspect in a fake pass that has entered the trial stage.
