Police Detain Driver of Stolen Car After High-Speed Chase & Bridge Jump in the Bronx

The police detain the driver of a stolen car that after trying to escape from them jumped into the Hutchinson River in the Bronx.

The incident occurred yesterday at around 12:30 a.m., when officers saw 23-year-old Adam Hernandez driving a black Honda Accord on Hutchinson River Parkway. He was accompanied by another man.

The rear plate of the vehicle indicated it as stolen and the uniform tried to stop them but they fled.

Thus began a high-speed chase.

The suspects took exit 3 of the avenue and then ended up crashing into the back of a Box truck.

The car was immobilized and the occupants abandoned it on foot.

Hernandez, a Bronx resident, jumped into the Hutchinson River to continue his escape.

The aviation visualized it in the water and officers entered the river to finally stop it at around 2:15 in the morning.

He was then transferred without injuries to Jacobi Hospital.

He now faces multiple charges, including reckless endangerment, criminal possession of stolen property, and attempted flight from authorities.

The other man, in his 20s, fled into a wooded area. He remains missing and the investigation continues.
