Police Defend Hens Motor Workshop in Price Fixing Case: Misunderstanding or Deception?

Jakarta

Police ‘defense’ Hens Motor Workshop in Sentul, West Java, who allegedly tricked consumers by fixing prices. According to the police, the case that recently went viral was just a misunderstanding between the repair shop and the alleged victim.

The Head of the Babakan Madang Police, AKP Susilo Tri Wibowo, indirectly said that the management of Hens Motor had no intention of deceiving and blackmailing Echa as the victim. According to information gathered by the police from the repair shop, Echa’s vehicle was overheating and needed major repairs.

“We have visited the workshop to clarify the viral incident,” said Susilo through his official statement, quoted on Wednesday (3/5).

“From the results of the communication we conducted with the repair shop, this happened due to a lack of communication from the start, between the consumer and the repair shop, regarding the work on dismantling the parts for the vehicle that had already been dismantled,” he added.

Through his official social media account, Echa, who claimed he had been blackmailed by Hens Motor, admitted that he did not agree with the “misunderstanding” statement made by the police. According to him, Hens Motor has had many victims. So, said Echa, how could it be said that it was a misunderstanding?

“If you say you misunderstood, it means that I and all the victims? There are a lot of victims, don’t you think everyone misunderstood? Oops, how about that. I’m confused about explaining it. It makes me dizzy,” said Echa via the @echadama08 account on TikTok.

Echa said that the phrase “misunderstanding” can be used if there are only one or two victims. Meanwhile, what happened to Hens Motor, according to him, was not the case. In fact, many victims of price knocking at the workshop have recently appeared and are starting to have the courage to open their voices.

“It’s clear that I’m a victim, I made a video and a lot of victims appear, uh, they say it’s a misunderstanding,” he said firmly.

Furthermore, Echa explained, there were several incidents that were not recorded on video during the price knock incident at the viral workshop. She said her husband had been involved in a dispute with the repair shop over pricing that was considered unreasonable. Eventually, though, she and her husband relented to avoid a big fuss.

“Well, if you say that this is a misunderstanding, just logic. There have been a lot of victims, you know. A lot! It’s not just me, at first I didn’t want to go viral, but because the ratings were bad, that’s why I went viral,” said Echa.

Previously, Echa through her TikTok account told about her experience of being blackmailed by a repair shop in Sentul. According to his confession, the repair shop set a fee of Rp 2.7 million to repair the motorbike. In fact, he originally only intended to change the oil.
