Police Crew Rescues Drowning Man and Makes Double Arrest in Drone Incident

A double arrest and a drowning rescue are to the credit of a police crew on the night of Monday to Tuesday.

Information confirmed by the public prosecutor of Roanne, Abdelkrim Grini. “These are two men aged 23 and 26, living in the Saint-Etienne region, who were arrested by police officers who arrived on the scene after hearing the sound of a drone,” indicates the prosecutor.

Around 3 a.m., these police officers located the takeoff zone of a drone in the gravel pits sector, on the other side of the Loire, in Perreux. A place located just opposite the Roanne detention center.

When they went to the scene, the drone was there. They also discovered bundles, the contents of which were not disclosed, undoubtedly intended to be illicitly delivered to the detention center. Apparently surprised by the arrival of the police, two men took off.

Police heard cries for help

One of them chose a riskier route to try to escape the police. She brought him to the Loire where he found himself in difficulty.

And the latter probably only owed his salvation to the intervention of a police officer, who threw himself into the water to rescue him from this predicament and certainly save him from drowning. “The police heard someone shouting ‘help’, they were able to locate a man who had fallen into the Loire and one of them jumped into the water to rescue him. His sidekick was arrested afterwards,” specifies the public prosecutor.

Shocked, the man was taken to hospital by firefighters, who responded to the scene. He was then taken into custody at the police station, where he joined his alleged accomplice.
