Police Continue Search for Missing Woman in Stavern – Urges Locals to Check Garages and Stalls

STAVERN / OSLO (Dagbladet): On Saturday, the police launched a search for the missing woman in Stavern. On Sunday, they continue where they left off.

This is stated by task leader Bernt Aamodt. At the same time, he asks people nearby to do an extra check in garages and stalls.

– We do not know what may have happened to the woman or where she is. It would therefore be of great help to us if those who live in the area look in their own garages, sheds or the like and let us know if there is anything that might be of interest to the investigation and the search, says Aamodt in a press release on Sunday morning. .

The project leader also points out that there has been a lot of snow recently, and says that it may be a good idea to remove snow that may have covered the areas in question.

Let the next of kin contribute

In recent days, several massive searches have been carried out in the area, particularly in the vicinity of the couple’s home.

Also on Sunday, there are 20 people involved in the search. Sunday’s search is centered 20 meters from the home, to rule out her being there. When the area is seaworthy, the search will be extended by 50 metres.

To Dagbladet, Aamot says that they have little information to go on, and that the search is therefore focused on the local area.

– We have a limited number of resources and must manage them in the best possible way. When we have as little to go on as we do now, it will be most critical to investigate the area around the crime scene.

When asked how they cooperate with the next of kin of the woman, who have launched their own search operation in the terrain, he replies that the police now want to involve the next of kin in the search.

The police turn: Weakened suspicion

A meeting is planned between the police and those who wish to assist in the search at 12 noon.

The police have previously not involved the next of kin in the search, despite the fact that the woman’s family has expressed a strong desire for this. On Saturday, the family therefore launched their own search operation, which, according to aid lawyer Ellen Holager Andenæs, consisted of around 30 people.

– We want to raise the quality of the search the family makes, and assist with information. We are doing what we can to find her, but we do not have very high hopes of making a discovery today, says Aamot about why the police have now chosen to involve the next of kin.

On Saturday morning, the police confirmed that they had made discoveries in the snow in connection with the search, but Dagbladet learned a short time later that the findings were not as interesting as first thought. The police confirmed this on Sunday.

– A couple of objects were found that we wanted to look at more closely. Unfortunately, these turned out not to be relevant to the case, says Aamot.

New twist: – Absolutely sick

Several theories

It was on Tuesday evening that the police sounded the murder alarm in Stavern, when a man in his 50s was found dead in his home. His roommate, the missing woman in her 40s, had disappeared.

A short time later, they charged the woman with the murder and wanted her internationally. On Thursday, however, the case took a new turn: The police opened up that the woman may have been killed first – a theory that was later described as “strengthened”.

– We also do not now wish to give weight to the other theories, but for the time being note that the murder hypothesis against the woman is weakened. We don’t know what happened to her. We don’t have the facts on that, since we haven’t found her, said police attorney Ole Jacob Garder to Dagbladet on Friday.
