The police confiscated the cell phone of actor Yoo Ah-in, who was accused of habitual propofol use and marijuana testing, and began digital forensic work.

According to Star News on the 12th, the police received and executed a search and seizure warrant for Yoo Ah-in’s body at Incheon International Airport on the 5th, secured Yoo Ah-in’s cell phone, and started digital forensic work.

Previously, Yoo Ah-in arrived at Incheon International Airport on the 5th after a recent trip to the US with acquaintances. At that time, upon arriving at Incheon International Airport, Yoo Ah-in went out through an exit other than the exit that ordinary passengers come out of.

On the 6th, the very next day, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit summoned and investigated Yoo Ah-in on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Afterwards, the police commissioned the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to conduct a detailed analysis of Yoo Ah-in’s drugs, and on the 10th, the urine test was positive for cannabis.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main component of hemp, is usually not detected in urine after 7 to 10 days, so it seems that hemp has been used recently, according to drug experts.

However, propofol, which was a problem in the first place, was found to have a negative reaction. Propofol is known to be difficult to detect as it leaves the body within a few days.

Yoo Ah-in was booked by the police at Incheon International Airport on the 5th, and the possibility of using other drugs was raised, so a simple drug kit test was conducted. In addition, about 160 strands of body hair were provided to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation for drug-related appraisal. Results will be available within 10 days.

Yoo Ah-in is currently banned from leaving the country and has been unable to contact him.

Yoo Ah-in’s agency, UAA, told Star News, “We have seen reports, but we cannot confirm anything. We have not heard anything additional from the police. We have nothing to say other than the previous official position.”

On the 8th, the UAA said, “We are actively cooperating with all investigations and will actively explain the problematic areas.”
