Police Chief of Fulton County in Georgia Rules Out Special Treatment for Indicted Former President Trump

The chief of police in Fulton County in the state of Georgia in the USA, Patrick Labat, rules out special treatment if former President Donald Trump is indicted there.

It was late on Tuesday evening that it became clear that Donald Trump has been indicted on four counts for attempting to overturn the election he lost in 2020. It is the third case Trump has now been indicted in. From before, he has been indicted in the so-called bribery case and in the document case.

New indictment

Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis has indicated that she will bring an indictment in the case by the middle of the month.

The police chief said they would follow normal practice and that the former president’s status does not play a role.

– We want mug shots ready for you, said Labat during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, according to The New York Times.

If that happens, Trump will be the first former president with a mug shot, writes The Washington Post.

– He is extremely angry

Along with other law enforcement agencies, the police chief has been preparing for months for possible problems surrounding the wide-ranging state investigation into election meddling by Trump and his allies in Atlanta.

Countless threats against the police chief, district attorney and local judges have surfaced in recent months, Laban said, according to The New York Times.

– There have been many threats: by e-mail, text message and personal phone calls, the police chief told the press conference, according to the newspaper.
