‘Privacy legislation sometimes gets in the way’

Amsterdam – When dealing with serious crime, the police are troubled by privacy legislation and fundamental rights for detainees, which are abused. Criminals regularly continue their activities from prison. Some pose such a danger to society that the question arises whether they are allowed to have certain freedoms, says Hanneke Ekelmans of the police force management.
