“The approximately 45 rioters who were arrested and who caused disturbances in Utrecht in recent days, almost all have a Moroccan descent and are in their teens and twenties.
That says police chief Martin Sitalsing of the central Netherlands.
“Indeed, almost all of them are people of Dutch-Moroccan descent. But what are you talking about: sometimes they are boys of the fourth generation, ”says Sitalsing.
The police chief points out that there is no question of a ‘Moroccan problem’, as is often said. “There are a lot of people from the Moroccan community who have turned against the rioters. They really pushed some of the rioters out of the neighborhood. We also need it from the well-meaning people of this community to avoid this kind of riots. Youth workers and neighborhood fathers. You also feel a kind of powerlessness in these people. ”
