Police Checks South Sumatra Police Chief Regarding Rp 2 T Bodong Grant for Akidi Tio’s Family

The donation of Rp 2 trillion by the family of the late businessman Akidi Tio for the handling of COVID-19 in South Sumatra (South Sumatra) did not exist because the balance was insufficient. The National Police Headquarters sent a team to examine the South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Eko Indra Heri.

“In connection with the South Sumatra Police Chief, the National Police Headquarters has dispatched an internal team, namely from the Itwasum Police Headquarters and from the Police Propam Div Paminal,” said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Argo Yuwono in a virtual press conference, Wednesday (4/8/2021).

Argo explained that the National Police Headquarters wanted to know the incident clearly by clarifying Inspector General Eko. The inspection will be carried out internally.

“Yes, of course we want to see what kind of clarity, how the case and that’s the realm of internal clarification,” he said.

“We are waiting for the results of the investigation and internal examination activities from the National Police Headquarters. That is the development of events in Palembang,” added Argo.

Previously, the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) intervened to trace the Rp 2 trillion donation from Akidi Tio, which is still a mystery. Head of PPATK Dian Ediana Rae said, in the context of domestic financial analysis, the donation funds could be said to be close to fraudulent.

“Actually, it’s almost close, it’s close to a conclusion. We still have some additional information that we are still trying to dig up in the field. But actually, in the context of domestic financial analysis, everything is clear. Dian in a virtual discussion quoted from the PPATK YouTube channel, Wednesday (4/8).

However, Dian said PPATK would still try to dig deeper in the field regarding the source of the donation funds. Especially related to the possibility of transferring funds from abroad.

“Before something might happen, which means other evidence in other points related to possibilities. Let’s say the possibility of transferring funds from abroad, yes. This one is actually also part of PPATK monitoring, because PPATK can carry out monitoring on the entry and exit of funds,” he said.

Dian also revealed that from PPATK monitoring until yesterday afternoon, Tuesday (3/8), there has been no transaction of Rp 2 trillion in funds from the family of the late Akidi Tio.

“Until today, until this afternoon, the money in question didn’t even exist,” said Dian.

The South Sumatra Police also had time to examine Akidi Tio’s son, Heryanty. From the results of Heryanty’s examination and checking with the bank, it was found that the balance in the account listed on the Rp 2 trillion bilyet giro was insufficient.
