The police in North Rhine-Westphalia today (09.03.) searched several apartments and houses of suspected Whatsapp scammers at the same time. Among other places in Lüdenscheid.

This emerges from a joint press release by the Hagen public prosecutor and the Märkischer Kreis district police authority. In addition to Lüdenscheid, apartments in Cologne, Essen, Duisburg, Niederzier in the Düren district, Bergheim and Kerpen were also searched. The 14 suspects are accused of having stolen cash in at least a six-figure range as Whatsapp or telephone fraudsters in at least one hundred cases, according to the PM. A large amount of evidence was seized during the searches. Among them were cell phones and a pistol. The investigations are ongoing.
