Police car set on fire, video posted on social networks

Two individuals were filmed as they set a screen-printed police car on fire in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) in the Coteaux district, in front of a police office. Two suspects were arrested.

The video was posted on Snapchat and Twitter in particular. In these images, we see two men dressed in black with their faces concealed, busy on the passenger side of a screen-printed police car. Moments later, an explosion occurs in the vehicle which ignites instantly. The two authors were handling one or more incendiary devices.

This scene took place around 4 p.m., in front of the West Mulhouse police station. The fire spread to another vehicle, that of an individual. Fortunately, no injuries are to be deplored.

Two people were arrested by the police and were taken into police custody. An investigation has been opened.

Police union calls for “firm and uncompromising criminal response”

In a press release, the Alliance police nationale union “Once again strongly denounces the impunity of certain thugs who no longer hesitate for a single second to come and challenge the Police with a weapon classified by law as being ‘war material'”. The organization also claims “Unfailing support for the judicial institution which must provide a firm and uncompromising criminal response to such acts”.

“All my support for the police forces of Mulhouse, whose vehicle was set on fire today! I strongly condemn this scandalous act ”, reacted the prefect of Haut-Rhin, Louis Laugier.
