Police Call Atlanta Shooter Addicted to Sex

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

State and federal investigators AS suspected Robert Aaron Long, the perpetrator of the series shooting at three Asian spas in the area Atlanta has a lot of personal problems.

Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds, where the shooting took place, said the problem included sexual addiction. Because of that problem, he suspected, Long had frequently visited several spas before the shooting he took.

The investigators’ suspicion was reinforced by Long’s roommate, Tyler Bayless. He said that apart from sex, Long also suffers from an addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Because of his addiction, Long was once treated. He added that in truth, Long is a very religious person.

Long talked to him about the Bible often. Long also once told Bayless that he was raised in a very religious household

However, Bayless said that on several occasions when he was living with Long, the suspect had indeed complained; desperate for her addiction to sex.

“It’s something that will really torture him. When he relapses, he will go to a nursing home to channel his passion,” Bayless said as quoted from CNN.com, Thursday (18/3).

However, Bayless does not know whether Long’s departure when the shooting took place was intentional or not.

Shootings that killed eight people took place at three massage parlors in Atlanta, USA on Tuesday (16/3). All three incidents killed eight people and injured another.

The United States Department of State (US) said the four victims who died in the shooting incident in Atlanta on Tuesday (17/3) were of Korean ethnicity.

The ethnicity of the shooting victims has sparked speculation that the problem was triggered by the racism problem committed by Americans against Asian descendants in America.

Even former US President Barack Obama had commented on this allegation.

“Although the shooters’ motives are not clear, the identities of the victims underscore the alarming increase in anti-Asian violence that must end,” Obama said.

However, authorities in Georgia told reporters it was premature to link the attacks in the Atlanta area to racial issues.

“It’s still early days, but (the suspect) claims it is not racially motivated,” said Captain Jay Baker of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
