Police arrest two minors for match fixing | Inland

It is reported that the two were arrested before the match took place. The two have been released pending the police investigation, the police said on Wednesday. The investigation is being conducted by the Rotterdam police, led by the Functional Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The fact that players of the second division are approached to manipulate a match for a fee fits in with the image that amateur sport is also an attractive competition for match fixing, according to the police and the Public Prosecution Service. “We cannot let that happen, because it poses a threat to fair sport,” said public prosecutor Anne de Leeuw.
