Police arrest suspect after robbing and stabbing women in Amsterdam | Inland

The first attempted robbery took place on H. Cleyndertweg. The man attacked and threatened with a knife, but the woman was able to defend herself. The perpetrator could not capture anything. A little further on, on the Dijkwater, another woman was attacked. This time, the perpetrator also stabbed the victim.

“She was robbed and stabbed under threat of a knife. She had knife wounds, but was approachable. She has received medical treatment, ”said a police spokesman.

Then another robbery took place, this time in the Baanakkerspark. A woman cycling past was pulled from her bicycle and robbed. She, like the second wife, had to give up ‘personal belongings’, the police confirm.

“Because the description of the perpetrator was the same as well as the weapon used, a knife, in the three incidents, we assume that they were the same perpetrator.”

Later it turned out that a fourth incident in which another woman was stabbed, this time on the Volendammerweg, was probably also linked to the same man.

The three women described a light-skinned man about 6 feet tall with a blue raincoat and dark trousers. After hours of searching, a suspect was arrested at the Insulindeweg in Amsterdam East.

“The police suspect that this suspect is responsible for all four incidents, but investigation will have to reveal further.”
